In today's class, we looked at websites that were made by the older students, showing great examples of organizing the subjects, and the balance between articles and pictures. One particular group caught my eye, because they were using a magazine layout for their article that allowed them to express their creativity. A lot of articles that I have read on various websites often use the plain colors and designs, that puts me off from reading it since it looks boring. However, when I saw the article of their team, it made me interested in reading it. Again, I realized the importance of visual aids in presentations and websites. We also learned about how visual aids can help persuade people into believing something. Mr. Paterson showed us a video, that included two clips with the same message.  In Tuesday's class, we learned about an application on google, that allows us to make a website really easily. We first made our own websites, and I was surprised with how easily and fast we can make a website. Before trying out google sites, I thought that it would take a lot of time and effort to making and designing one, so I was really surprised. After making our own websites, every team made a website for their own team, for the project (continuing from the 1st term).  When Mr. Paterson showed us the websites that the older grades had made before, I was shook. They all looked so good!! So good that it was so much alike to the websites from professional companies. Looking at these amazing websites the older students had created, it made me more motivated to put more effort into creating a really good one.   Also, using this application, it made me think about the other possibilities or situations for when I can use this for.  Today, Mr.Paterson started off our English class for this semester, talking about the importance of "proof of concept" in presentations. To explain what proof of concept is, it is basically the reason you tell your audience in the beginning of your presentation, to why your presentation needs to be heard. This is meant to have a persuasive effect on your audience, for them to listen to you and your presentation. However, he pointed out that a lot of the presentations from last semester were missing this particular part. Therefore, to give better presentations, we need to be aware that we are using the proof of concept in the beginning, from now on.  On another note, our teacher talked to us about the problems of plagiarism in japan.
